One of my oldest and dearest friends just recently had her very first baby. Its pretty epic, really. To actually grow up with someone, watch them mature, and then have a baby of their own is pretty special.
Her baby's name is Bear, so how could I not paint a little bear in honor of the little guy?? They really made it too easy.
It took me probably around an hour total, including sketching it out, drying time between watercolor layers, and putting it in a frame.
To be honest, it might be one of my favorite animal paintings I've done. I like that it doesn't have too much going on. I usually have a problem with not knowing when to stop on a painting, and then I overwork it. And overworking on watercolor is a huge no-no.
I knew I wanted this one to be simple, delicate, and honestly...just really dang cute. So I forced myself to work small (5x7" to be exact) and keep from fussing about every little detail. In the end, I think I achieved exactly what I set out to do.
Let me know what ya'll think :)
