There is beauty in pain.
Sorrow and heartache produce great art because art is a way for humans to cope with the harsh realities that the world we live in is broken. For me, art has become a refuge from the storm of a chronic illness called Crohn’s Disease.
My work is a visual representation of what’s going on inside my body. It’s gross, it’s abstract, and it’s ongoing. Crohn’s has changed me both physically and spiritually and has led me to create art that’s more than just pretty colors on a canvas but an escape from the daily pain in my damaged gut.
Art soothes the soul and when we give it a chance, it can heal us.
My hope is that my work can help others suffering from incurable diseases and help them realize that they aren’t alone in their pain.
